Sharmila is an Assistant Professor in Gender, Development and Globalisation at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is also an Associate Academic and member of the Management Committee of the LSE Saw Swee Hock Southeast Asia Centre, co-convenor of the UK Development Studies Association Gender and Development Study Group, and member of the editorial board of the Anti-Trafficking Review.
