Alex is an inaugural Blue Security Fellow at La Trobe University and a Research Fellow at the Institute for International Law and the Humanities at Melbourne Law School, The University of Melbourne. From May 2024, he will commence in the role of Postdoctoral Researcher in International Law at Tilburg University (The Netherlands). His PhD thesis, which sits at the intersection of the concept of the archipelago in the law of the sea, Philippine state-making, and empire, is currently under examination at The University of Melbourne, where he previously earned a Master of Laws. He also holds BA Political Science and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of the Philippines. Alex was admitted to the practice of law in the Philippines in 2014 and worked at the Office of the Solicitor General prior to graduate research.
