Nur-mukin Usman is a heritage practitioner, researcher, and public servant from Tawi-Tawi, Philippines, currently serving as Senior History Researcher at the Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH) Tawi-Tawi. His work focuses on cultural heritage documentation, conservation, and community engagement, particularly among the maritime and Indigenous communities of the Bangsamoro region. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts from Mindanao State University–Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography, and has undertaken further studies in civic engagement and sustainable development through the University of Nebraska at Omaha and Victoria University of Wellington. As an Australia Awards Scholar, he is currently pursuing a Master of Heritage Tourism Management at the Australian National University. His research interests include cultural heritage management, heritage tourism, oral history, intangible cultural heritage, community-based conservation, and the preservation of traditional knowledge systems, with a particular commitment to advancing the recognition and safeguarding of the cultural heritage of Tawi-Tawi and the wider Bangsamoro region.
