Dr Jenny Panchal is a Senior Lecturer in Tourism & Hospitality Management at James Cook University, Australia. Her research focuses on tourist behaviour, regenerative tourism, community wellbeing, festivals, visitor experience, and positive psychology in tourism, with a strong emphasis on Southeast Asia and on engagement between Australia and the Philippines. Jenny has an active research and partnership agenda in the Philippines, including collaborative projects on Panagbenga Festival in Baguio City, Indigenous-led coffee tourism in Benguet, cultural festivals, community resilience, and sustainable destination development. Her work bridges academic research, applied policy, and community engagement. She collaborates with universities, local stakeholders, tourism organisations, and community groups to examine how tourism and events can support cultural identity, inclusive participation, wellbeing, and regenerative outcomes. Jenny is also deeply involved in Filipino-Australian community leadership in North Queensland, where she contributes to cultural programming, social cohesion, and diaspora engagement. As an affiliate of the ANU Philippines Institute, Jenny seeks to contribute to research-led dialogue, bilateral collaboration, and capacity-building initiatives that strengthen Australia-Philippines academic, cultural, and community connections.
