Research Interests My research lies at the intersection of applied theology, intercultural/interreligious dialogue, and contemporary socio-ecological challenges, with a strong emphasis on Philippine and Asian contexts. Grounded in postcolonial and contextual hermeneutics, I investigate how grassroots religious practices, popular piety, and community resilience inform theological reflection and public discourse. My core research interests include: • Postcolonial & Interreligious Dialogue: Examining decolonial methodologies and grassroots peace initiatives (e.g., Mindanao’s Silsilah Dialogue Movement) to foster authentic solidarity across religious and cultural boundaries. • Theology of Popular Religiosity & Cultural Memory: Exploring Filipino folk practices (e.g., the Ilocano atang ritual) as sites of theological meaning, communal healing, and identity formation. • Disaster, Climate & Ecological Theology: Analyzing faith-based responses to climate vulnerability, super typhoons, and ecological crisis, with a focus on theological frameworks for resilience, justice, and ecological conversion. • Digital Ethics, AI & Theological Anthropology: Investigating the moral, pastoral, and theological implications of artificial intelligence, mental health technologies, and digital transformation on human dignity and community life. • Palliative Care, Death & Dying: Integrating practical theology, pastoral counseling, and cultural rituals to address end-of-life care, grief, and spiritual accompaniment in pluralistic settings. Methodologically, my work employs interdisciplinary, community-engaged, and contextually grounded approaches, prioritizing the voices of marginalized communities in the Global South.
