Dr Gino Orticio is a sociologist and social work academic whose research and teaching explore the intersections of technology, culture, and social justice. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the Queensland University of Technology and postgraduate qualifications in Social and Development Studies from the University of the Philippines. Gino is a Lecturer and Course Coordinator in the Graduate Program in Social Science at Excelsia University College, where he teaches research methods, critical reflexivity, and sociology. His research work is grounded in Actor–Network Theory, with a focus on indigenous/digital heterogeneities, sociology of disruptions, and the lived experiences of Filipino migrant and international student communities. Dr Orticio’s research has recently been presented nationally and internationally, including recent work on technological breakdowns and ontological politics at the European Sociological Association Conference at the University of Split, Croatia. He is also presented a conference paper on syncretism and precarity for the TASA Conference in Melbourne. He also serves as a member of Excelsia's Human Research Ethics Committee. Dr Orticio is keen on collaborating with Philippine scholars across disciplines.
