Dr Bryan Lee D. Celeste is a sociologist whose work examines the intersections of community life, environmental governance, and cultural resilience in Mindanao. His research foregrounds how Indigenous and rural communities negotiate shifting regimes of land use, biodiversity conservation, and eco‑tourism, highlighting the everyday practices through which people sustain social solidarity and assert local agency. Drawing from long-term ethnographic engagement, his scholarship contributes to broader regional debates on environmental change, resource governance, and the politics of development in Southeast Asia. He completed his PhD in Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Newcastle, grounding his work in ethnographic methodologies and critical social theory. As President of the Philippine Sociological Society, Dr Celeste advances conversations on cultural sociology, Indigenous methods, and the role of sociology in shaping inclusive and culturally rooted development pathways. At Central Mindanao University, he serves as faculty in the Department of Sociology and leads the establishment of the Centre for Peace, Engaged Action, and Collaborative Enquiry, fostering interdisciplinary work on peacebuilding, environmental stewardship, and participatory governance.
