This seminar aims to deepen our understanding of the intersection between social structures and healthcare access while advocating for transformative approaches that empower marginalized communities, improve public health policies, and elevate lived experience leadership as a key force in addressing these challenges. Aron has dedicated his academic and professional career to these vital advocacies.

Despite significant advances in healthcare access, many individuals and communities continue to face substantial inequities in obtaining quality care. These disparities stem from power imbalances embedded in complex social, cultural, and political structures that shape the unique experiences of people within their communities and nations. In this seminar, he will examine how these power differentials contribute to the inaccessibility of quality healthcare and overall well-being.

Drawing on insights from interactions with medical professionals, lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the lived experiences of ethnic minority students, people living with HIV, and gay and bisexual men, he will contextualize the structural barriers that perpetuate these inequities. Ultimately, the seminar aims to foster a deeper understanding of the intersection between social structures and healthcare access and to advocate for transformative approaches—empowering marginalized communities, improving public health policies, and recognizing lived experience leadership as a key force in addressing these challenges.
