Filipino Grace in Motion: Discover Cariñosa
Grace, rhythm and a touch of Filipino charm. Discover Cariñosa, one of the Philippines’ best-loved traditional dances, in this hands-on workshop with the Filipino Student Association. Known for its graceful movements and playful storytelling, Cariñosa is a dance of elegance, expression and connection.
To help bring the dance to life, participants who would like to take on the traditionally female role are encouraged to wear a maxi skirt or other flowing garment, as some movements incorporate the skirt as part of the choreography. Participation is welcome in whatever attire you feel comfortable wearing, so please do not feel any pressure on this front.
We are extremely lucky to have Ms. Roschelle Luzares as the instructor. She is an experienced Filipino dance performer who has also performed with Cordillera Banga Dance at the National Multicultural Festival 2026.

This Immersia event is a collaboration between the ANU School of Culture, History & Language, the ANU Filipino Students Association and the ANU Philippines Institute.
